The rounds typically land on their side rather than their nose which distributes the impact enough to both keep the round intact and keep them as harmless as possible

but they are hard to make out

It has some light rust over all

The style is very similar to the WWII version, but the material is more modern. These lack the metal disc that would go on the flat oval portion as these came directly out of a factory clean out and were unfinished. They could have been fitted with a variety of different ones based on the qualification for example, rifle or panzer etc More East German items here.
